My license is an Apps for Business and apparently I also have (from a trial that seems to never end) Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 2. They deleted it, but it's still in their deleted folder, so Microsoft didnt remove it for them. The user who forwarded the email to me has a Business Basic license, and I check with them and they still have the email. Interesting point about the different licenses. Outlook is connected via Office 365, is that the same as hosted Exchange? In Outlook, account settings say Microsoft Exchange. If it was m365 that removed it then this informaiton can usually be found in the security/compliance centre in the varios email reports. If office/m365 then exact subscription is also useful ans there are differing security features. Outlook could be connected to a generic pop3 account, or hotmail, or on prem exchange, hosted exhange, office 365 etc You comment about microsoft suggests possibly a hosted mailbox but in this case the entire specifc setup is key informaiton. It is useful when posting to know as much informaiton about the environment as possible. Many possibilities such as local client security software, server based software, sync of mailbox servers etc.
